Publication of the European Mortgage Federation (EMF) Hypostat 2026 – Funding the Real Economy.

The MBA has again contributed to the latest edition of the 2026 edition of Hypostat – the European Mortgage Federation’s (EMF) / the European Covered Bond Council’s (ECBC) – flagship statistical report encompassing data on recent developments in housing and mortgage markets in Europe and beyond.  This year’s edition (https://hypo.org/sites/default/files/2026-09/HYPOSTAT_2026_.pdf) places a particular focus on housing affordability, a theme that sits high on the policy agenda in Europe and globally.

The 2026 edition (covering data until end 2025) presents data and analyses for 31 European countries (the EU27 plus Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and the United Kingdom), as well as data from nine additional countries further afield (Australia, Canada, Brazil, Japan, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Turkey and the United States of America). For the first time, the edition also features contributions from members of the EMF-ECBC’s International Secondary Mortgage Market Association (ISMMA), offering a side-by-side view of secondary mortgage markets across a number of non-EU economies.

The MBA’s contribution is found on pages 85  – 87 and may be accessed using https://hypo.org/sites/default/files/2026-09/Malta.pdf.
