Postponement of local events held in conjunction with European Money Week 2020

For the sixth year running, the MBA was due to hold a series of events and activities in conjunction with European Money Week (EMW), scheduled to be held between the 23rd and 27th March 2020.

However, due to the onset locally of the COVID-19 pandemic and consequent repercussions such as the closure of schools and official advice to avoid large gatherings, the MBA regretfully bowed to the inevitable and postponed all events scheduled for EMW to an, as yet, unforeseen date in the future.

The recurrent theme of EMW was going to be “Promoting financial literacy amongst youth” and would have been characterized by a series of financial education events organised by national banking associations across Europe, under the coordination of the European Banking Federation (EBF) of which the MBA is a member.

The MBA’s programme of events was, as normal practice, organised in collaboration with the Home Economics Seminar Centre within the Department for Curriculum, Lifelong Learning & Employability and other partners comprising the Central Bank of Malta, Finance Malta amd the Malta Stock Exchange. For the first time, the Malta Insurance Association and GEMMA were also scheduled to contribute to this year’s programme.

Information on when the EMW will take place will be provided in due course.
