The MBA’s Deputy Chair Joseph Said, recently participated at a webinar organised by the Malta Chamber of SMEs on the 15th July 2020, entitled “Banking Support for SMEs”. After a brief introduction by Abigail Mamo, the CEO of the Malta Chamber of SMEs, this was followed by the welcome address of Paul Abela, the President of the Malta Chamber of SMEs. Parliamentary Secretary (P.S.) Hon. Clayton Bartolo then provided a brief round-up of the main issues currently arising as a result of the impact locally of the COVID-19 pandemic. The webinar proceeded with a panel discussion between P.S. Hon. Clayton Bartolo, Prof. Josef Bonnici, the Chair of the Malta Development Bank (MDB) and Mr Joseph Said the MBA’s Deputy Chair. Various aspects and underlying themes relating to the current support to SMEs by the Government, the MDB through its COVID-19 Guarantee Scheme and by the banks, were explored in an active discussion between the parties. In conclusion of the webinar Abigail Mamo moderated a Q & A session with the Chamber’s members, addressed by P.S. Hon. Clayton Bartolo.
