MBA participates at MFSA event Enhancing Supervisory Reporting: Navigating Data Quality, Transparency and Regulatory Compliance

Owen Camilleri – MeDirect, the Chair of the MBA’s Standing Committee on Accounting, Financial Reporting & Data, was one of the participants of the Panel Session themed Supervisory Reporting: Navigating Challenges and Maximising Benefits for Banks and Regulators Amid Increasing Complexity which formed part of the conference organised by the MFSA on the 22nd November 2024.

The event titled  Enhancing Supervisory Reporting: Navigating Data Quality, Transparency and Regulatory Compliance fostered discussions around improving the quality, accuracy and compliance of regulatory reporting while addressing the latest industry developments. Several key areas were covered, such as a review of banks’ performance in regulatory reporting, which included trends in resubmissions, supervisory expectations and recommendations for enhancing accuracy. Updates on Pillar 3 disclosures, based on recent stock-taking questionnaire results and supervisory assessments, will also be highlighted. Insights into upcoming changes in the reporting framework, particularly the new requirements under CRR3, reporting format advancements like XBRL-CSV and updates to the data point model were also highlighted.

Tomasz Kolbuszewski, Senior Manager, Banking Supervision, MFSA moderated the panel discussion, which also featured; Pilar Gutierrez, Head of Reporting and Transparency Unit – EBA; Giancarlo Pellizzari , Head of Banking Supervision Data Division – ECB, Nikolaos Grapsas, Deputy Head, Banking Supervision – MFSA and Roberta Darmanin, Deputy Head, Banking Supervision – MFSA.
