European Money Week Training Seminar for Home Economics Teachers
As part of the European Money Week programme of activities organised by the Malta Bankers’ Association, Home Economics teachers were invited to participate in a morning training seminar entitled “Innovations in Financial Literacy Education”. This teacher professional development training was carried out in collaboration with the Department of Curriculum Managements’s Home Economics Seminar Centre.
The training aims to equip participants with knowledge, skills and competencies to address innovations in financial literacy – related topics within the Home Economics syllabus. Talks by bank officials covered a range of relevant themes including existing and new electronic payment channels, the security of electronic payments, key aspects of life insurance, terms normally applied to home loans, and salient consumer protection provisions contained in the relative regulations.
The European Money Week, which this year is being held in the latter part of March, is an initative of the European Banking Federation, aimed at promoting financial education and financial literacy amongst students and youths.
