
The Malta Bankers’ Association (MBA) represents the interests of banks that are licensed to operate in Malta. Its mission is to promote an enabling environment for the banking sector through advocacy, capacity building, education and networking. The Association is committed to furthering the development of the banking industry in Malta and seeks to facilitate co-operation and dialogue between its members, the competent authorities and other stakeholders on matters of sectoral interest.
This is a challenging post for a person seeking fulfilment in working in a small team which is actively involved in a dynamic sector.
The Association is seeking to recruit a full-time Executive Assistant as part of the MBA’s Secretariat.
The duties tied up with this post include, amongst others, the following:
- assisting the Secretary General (and in his absence, the Assistant Secretary General) in the furtherance of his/her/their duties;
- assisting in coordinating the work of the MBA’s Standing Committees, Working Groups and Joint Committee(s), including the scheduling of meetings, issuing of agendas, and where relevant, minute taking and the preparation of supporting documentation;
- assisting in arranging meetings with third parties as stakeholders of the MBA;
- assisting in the organisation of events such as seminars and conferences organised from time to time by the MBA;
- handling the Secretariat’s day-to-day administrative duties, including payroll, accounting, maintenance of the Association’s website, etc.
Given the wide-ranging duties, the preferred candidate should:
- be an energetic individual (preferably with a first degree in a relevant financial subject) with at least five years’ relevant experience in the financial services sector or in other industries in a similar position;
- be highly responsible with an organised and methodical approach to work;
- have the ability to work on his/her own initiative, and to set priorities and meet deadlines;
- possess good communication skills and be fluent in spoken and written English and Maltese;
- be computer literate and proficient in the use of Sage and Microsoft Office particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Salary is commensurate with the experience, skills and qualifications that the candidate brings to the position.
